Empowering Circular Fashion Through Global Trade: Sari for Change x DHL GoTrade

At Sari for Change, our mission has always been about more than fashion.

We exist to create opportunities for women, rescue beautiful heritage textiles from landfill, and build a circular economy rooted in dignity, creativity, and sustainability.

Over the past year, Director Iman Ganijee had the privilege of participating in the GoTrade programme, an initiative of DHL Group -  an experience that became a turning point for our business.

Through the programme, we gained invaluable insight into what it truly takes to grow internationally: from export readiness and logistics planning to global customer fulfilment and scalable trade systems.

For a purpose-led small business, access to this kind of knowledge is transformational.

Learning How to Grow Internationally

One of the biggest challenges for social enterprises is not creating meaningful products - it is accessing markets beyond local borders.

The GoTrade programme helped us better understand:

• International shipping systems
• Export processes and documentation
• Packaging and fulfilment standards
• How to scale responsibly
• Reaching customers across global markets

These learnings have helped position Sari for Change for its next chapter of growth.

A Meaningful Partnership with GoTrade

What began as a learning journey has now grown into a meaningful partnership.

Today, Sari for Change is partnered with GoTrade, an initiative of DHL Group, helping us strengthen international shipping access, expand into global markets, and connect with customers around the world more efficiently.

This partnership opens the door for South African-made circular fashion to reach new homes internationally while continuing to grow local impact.

Creating Drop-Off Points Across South Africa

Together, we are also working toward expanding textile collection through drop-off points for donated saris and fabrics across South Africa.

This means:

• More textiles rescued from landfill
• More materials for our women artisans to transform
• More livelihoods created
• More impact generated

Why This Matters
