FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Sari for Change?
Sari for Change is a conscious fashion label and social enterprise that transforms pre-loved Indian saris and heritage textiles into contemporary garments, while upskilling women and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
2. Where are your products made?
All Sari for Change pieces are produced at our training hubs in Cosmo City, Yeoville, and Dobsonville (South Africa). Women are trained in sewing, garment construction, and production, and each garment is created as part of this skills-development process.
3. How can I donate saris or textiles?
You can donate clean, usable saris and heritage textiles by contacting info@sariforchange.co.za for current donation details.
Saris can be dropped off at our studio in Northcliff, or courier collection arrangements can be made within South Africa.
4. Are your products sustainable?
Yes. Sustainability is central to our work. We upcycle existing textiles, operate ethical production practices, and follow a zero-waste approach, ensuring offcuts and remnants are reused wherever possible. We also prioritise responsible, low-impact packaging.
5. How should I care for my garment?
We recommend hand washing in cold water or dry cleaning. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
Each piece is upcycled and one of a kind - slight variations, marks, or colour inconsistencies are part of the regeneration process and are celebrated as a hallmark of sustainable luxury.
6. Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide via our shipping partner DHL. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination and are calculated at checkout.
7. What is your returns policy?
Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery for unworn and unwashed items. Due to the nature of one-of-a-kind and upcycled garments, custom pieces are final sale unless faulty.
8. How does Sari for Change support women?
Through the Sari for Change Foundation, we provide training in garment making, design, and production, along with fair pay and pathways to entrepreneurship.
Women are supported to establish home-based businesses. To date, we have trained 120 women and indirectly impacted over 300 family members.
9. How can I get involved?
You can support Sari for Change by donating saris or heritage textiles, purchasing from our collections, collaborating with us, or contributing to the training of women.
For partnerships or volunteering, email info@sariforchange.co.za.
10. Do you offer custom or made-to-order pieces?
We offer custom orders based on our existing designs only. Customisation is subject to fabric availability and production timelines. Please contact info@sariforchange.co.za to discuss your request.
11. Do you wholesale or supply retailers?
Yes. We work with selected retailers and stockists locally and internationally. For wholesale enquiries, please email info@sariforchange.co.za to request our lookbook and wholesale terms.
12. How do I know my size will fit?
We provide a detailed size guide on each product page to help you choose the best fit. As each garment is one of a kind, slight variations may occur. If you require additional measurements or fit advice, please contact us before placing your order.
